Here I Go Again

We’re still on the good news train. Aspen has stayed off of the high-flow and both girls seem to be doing well breathing on their own. That is a big step.

Our nurse this morning indicated that whe will likely move them out of their isolettes and into an open crib today, so fingers crossed that’s what we’ll find when we get there tonight.

One thing that did happen this morning is that we got to put onesies on them.

These are all amazing little steps that move us closer to coming home.

About Going Home

We finally got some answers re: getting to take the girls home. One of the nurse practitioners came in this morning and walked us through some of the future.

We’ve already hit several of the milestones. The open crib being one of the last ones.

From here, the big thing is getting them so that they can eat on their own. This will likely take quite a bit longer. The speech pathologist came in and checked the girls. She said that everything she saw was very appropriate for their age, but it was informative. We’ll be able to start doing more via the mouth starting when they’re 33 weeks, which is Monday. There are a lot of variables, but we’re very hopeful. We got a soft timeline of “four weeks” from the NP , but that certainly isn’t anything to hang our hats on.

Every day brings new information, I’ll keep reporting.
